Bedford Rotary Presents: Regional Idol Scholarship Competition

Saturday, January 17th, 2026 at 7pm
The Bedford NH Rotary Club is hosting the 11th Regional Idol Scholarship Competition, a program which is open to high school vocalists in the Southern NH area. The competition seeks to present the best vocalists in the area performing with a live band and awards over $3,000 in scholarship prizes to the best performers.
The purpose of this event is not only to recognize vocal excellence but also to promote the appreciation of music in our schools as an essential element of a well rounded education. We also provide extensive training and mentoring to the contestants to help them be better stage performers in front of a live audience. For many of them this is their first experience as a soloist in front of a large audience, and many of our alumni have gone on to successful music careers.
Each contestant performs a song with the band, after which a panel of judges, all music professionals, critique their performance; after all have performed, the judges choose the four finalists during intermission. The finalists are announced at the beginning of the second part of the show, and each one performs a second song, then the audience casts ballots which are collected and tabulated. The votes cast by the audience determines the winning order!
